Two students from the University of the Pacific, Brianna Juhrend and Shannon Chapman, have been awarded 2012 Boren Scholarships.  Another student, Anzeliza Lapid, was named an alternate.

Brianna is currently a student in the School of Engineering and Computer Science.  As a STEM student, she is eligible to spend the summer in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

Shannon, a School of International Studies student, will participate in the African Languages Initiative.  This summer, she will study Twi at the University of Florida.  Then, she will continue studying the language and take courses in agrarian studies for the 2012-13 academic year in Ghana.

Anzeliza is also a student in the School of International Studies and would like to spend the academic year studying in China.

The University of the Pacific recently published an article about the three scholars.  Read the complete article.
