About Sam:

Sam Enokian was a 2017 Boren Scholar to Kazakhstan where she studied Russian. Following her Boren program, Sam graduated from the University of Maryland where she studied Languages and International Development and Conflict Management. She fulfilled her service requirement as a member of the National Security Education Program (NSEP) Service Team in 2019. Sam then transitioned to the Department of Homeland Security where she worked as a Policy Analyst in the Office of Policy and Strategy within the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Currently Sam is continuing her work at USCIS as a Policy Advisor.

"As long as you're open to new opportunities, the Boren Awards program can take you far. My time in Almaty, Kazakhstan was one of my favorite experiences and incredibly transformative. It led me to my current position in immigration policy, and has helped shape how I approach complex challenges."
